Illness forces Strakka to run just two driver line up for 6 Hours of Fuji

Strakka Racing’s Nick Leventis will be forced to miss this weekend’s 6 Hours of Fuji after contracting a serious lung infection in Japan. After receiving medical attention for the past two days, Nick has been advised not to race this weekend and will instead return to the UK to recover. Following consultation with Nick and the championship organizers, Strakka Racing will still plan to race, fielding just its other two drivers, Jonny Kane and Lewis Williamson.

"First and foremost are thoughts are with Nick at this time," says team principal Dan Walmsley.

"We have been monitoring his progress over the past couple of days and thanks to the excellent care he has received in Tokyo, he has made good progress from being very poorly but the medical advice is to rest. Nick is obviously disappointed, this is one of his favorite tracks on the WEC calendar but the well being of our drivers has to be our priority and it would be unwise to compete if not 100%. The team is delighted that Nick wants us still to race and equally that both Jonny and Lewis are happy to cover the race between them. Despite the setback, everybody at Strakka is fired up to deliver a strong result for Nick this weekend."
