Formula E to boost virtual racing experience with Playseat simulators

Formula E – the electric street racing series – has today announced a collaboration with Playseat to provide state-of-the-art gaming simulators for eRace events, including the inaugural Visa Vegas eRace on January 7.

Playseat is a world leader in the gaming simulator market, providing professional drivers and fans with the most engaging and realistic gaming experience. A number of top-level international racing drivers use Playseat gaming chairs to replicate the position and feeling of racing on track.

Playseat will continue to provide gaming simulators for the eSports arena in the eVillage fan zone at all Formula E events, as well as the ground-breaking Visa Vegas eRace taking place at The Venetian Hotel as part of Sports Business Innovation at CES.

The stars of the FIA Formula E Championship and a selection of sim racers will battle it out in a virtual race behind the wheel of Playseat simulators in a bid to win a share of $1 million – the biggest prize in eSports racing history.

Four sim racers have already qualified through the Road to Vegas Challenge organised by Cloud Sport – with the final six places up for grabs in the final round this weekend.

Alejandro Agag, Founder & CEO of Formula E, said: "Formula E and Playseat are a perfect combination – two brands focused on innovation and pioneering technology. It will be exciting to see the Formula E drivers and 10 sim racers go head-to-head in a virtual race on Playseat gaming chairs at a leading industry event such as CES. Playseat use their expertise to bring Formula E fans all over the world closer to the experience of all-electric racing, both at the track in the eSports arena and at home with world-leading simulator technology. Competitors – get ready to take your seat for the biggest prize in eSports racing history!"

Dr Fernando Smit, President & CEO of Playseat, said: "The partnership with Formula E is a very good fit as most professional drivers use Playseat simulators at home, and they have their factory simulators too. It comes close to reality and has both factors you want when training and gaming – fun and simulation. We want to be the bridge between gaming and racing, and there is no gaming simulator in the world that is more connected than Playseat. It’s important to do things like Vegas to make it available to both drivers and fans alike."
