Rolex 24 Hour 19: Cadillacs Nose-To-Tail at front
The #5 Cadillac leads, but barely |
With a track that is trying to dry but keeps getting wet by rain showers, the #5 Cadillac driven by Joao Barbosa continues to lead the #10 Cadillac driven by Max 'The Axe' Angelelli by just 0.2 sec. Both drivers are being careful as they maneuver through slower traffic with 5 hours to go in the Rolex 24.
IndyCar driver has the #66 Ford GT out front in GTLM some 22 seconds ahead of the #62 Ferrari of Toni Vilander.
IndyCar driver Ryan Hunter-Reay continues to lead GTD in his Acura NSX, 30-seconds ahead of the #33 Mercedes.
Jordan Taylor, No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R:
"I just got out of the car from my second stint and we are 16-hours into the race," Jordan Taylor said. "We have been leading on and off all race. The Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R has had no issues, just fuel, tires and fresh driver. The weather has been on and off with rain. We were under full course caution for a lot of the morning just before sunrise. A lot can still happen with six hours ago. We are going to keep running our race and hope to be upfront at the end,"
Hunter-Reay leads GTD in the #86 Acura NSX |
Ricky Taylor, No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R:
"It is always the goal to make it to the morning in a competitive situation and not always easy to get there," Ricky Taylor said. "Fingers crossed so far. These conditions have tested everybody. The crew and the drivers are battling just to keep the cars on the track. To still be leading the race is great if we can keep it clean to the last couple of hours we have a good shot."
Christian Fittipaldi, No. 5 Mustang Sampling Cadillac DPi-V.R:
"The night was pretty crazy," Fittipaldi said. "I ran a long time under yellow. It just started pouring hard. It was very hard to keep heat in the tires. I was able to keep it on the black stuff. We still have a long way to go. We are marching along to our plan. The No. 10 Cadillac is very strong. It was fast in the dry and they are doing a good job in the changing and wet conditions as well. We are giving it our all. I think we have something for them. Even the 90 car was good in the wet conditions."
