Team Penske could discontinue Supercars effort

The DJR Team Penske Mustangs have proven hard to beat

Team Penske is non-committal about its future in the Virgin Supercars Series in Australia, with rumors persisting for the last few months about a pending exit for the team. This would mean the end of the current DJR Team Penske relationship, which has run roughshod over the Supercars series.

The powerhouse combination has won two team titles in 2017 and 2019, two drivers title with Scott McLaughlin in 2018 and 2019 plus the 2019 Bathurst 1000 with McLaughlin and Alex Premat.

Team Penske president Tim Cindric said "With everything that is going on in the world it is probably a better conversation in a few months. Like many teams, we feel we need more time to better understand where Supercars is headed and the effects of this pandemic before we make too many comments about 2021 and beyond."
