F4 U.S. Championship Recieves Its 20th Entry For 2017

The 2017 Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda line-up continues to flourish with its 20th entry coming from Justin Sirgany. The 14-year-old Jamaican filled the second seat for Global Racing Group. The team announced Jacob Loomis of Corinth, Texas, as its first confirmed driver in February.

The second season of the F4 U.S. Championship has seen significant growth over its inaugural year. Sirgany marks the 13th rookie entry as SCCA Pro Racing officials expect 30 or more cars for the season opener at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida, April 8-9.

“We believe that F4 U.S. is setting a new standard as the most cost-effective path for drivers to progress from karts to formula cars," SCCA Pro Racing Vice President Steve Oseth said. “With the stable, cost-effective platform our partners at Honda, Pirelli and Onroak have provided, our teams have the ability to continue to test new drivers as well as returning veterans for the 2017 championship season, creating the best grid possible."

Sirgany became part of Global Racing Group’s unique driver development program that takes aim at the F4 U.S. Championship and preparing drivers for the next steps in their professional motorsport careers.

“In a display of skill, competency, and professionalism Justin won the attention of the entire Global Racing Group crew during our first two pre-season tests," said Global Racing Group President Christian Pedersen. “He continued to push himself to new levels; always looking to improve and learn, on and off track. Justin has both the talent and the persistency required to go very far in racing, and we’re delighted to have the opportunity to help him get there."

Sirgany started his racing career at a very young age in karts, and quickly showed both talent and results. Sirgany has already added a laundry list of results to his resume including highlights such as:

  • Winner of the Rotax Micromax Championship for 2012 at Florida Winter Tour
  • Second in the Rotax Micromax for 2012 at U.S. Grand Nationals
  • Winner of the Rotax Minimax Jamaican Championship for 2013
  • Winner of the Rotax Minimax Jamaican Championship for 2014
  • Winner of the Rotax Junior Jamaican Championship for 2015
  • Second in the Rotax Junior Jamaican Championship for 2016

The young-gun will be eligible for championship points starting at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Sirgany turns 15 before the season-opener and under FIA rules can start earning points toward a Super License.
