In this 3D animation renowned technical analyst Giorgio Piola investigates the changes made to Lewis Hamilton's steering wheel by him and Mercedes in order to comply with the new clutch paddle technical directive. For the 2017 season, Formula One switched around the regulations a bit to give drivers more of the responsibility when it comes to starts. Previously, engineers could tweak the software controlling the clutch to offer a smoother launch even on a clumsy start, but now, it's all up to the drivers to get away without stalling.
