Massive crash leaves $5 million of Supercars in a mangled wreck
Real carnage |
One of the worst crashes in the history of Supercars racing has ended the Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint in unbelievable scenes at Symmons Plains Raceway.
On only the second lap of the race an incredible 12 cars – or around $5 million of Supercars – ended up mangled wrecks strewn right across the front straight of the tight circuit.
Exactly what happened is unclear and may not come to light until a full investigation occurs. The cars were all but invisible in a mist of spray in the wet conditions.
Most of the drivers appeared uninjured although Tekno Autosport’s Will Davison was being tended to by medical team having been able to get out of his car.
It was unclear whether the race would proceed. The teams involved will have a sleepless night tonight trying to get back on the grid for the second race tomorrow.
