McLaren engine partner Honda ran into further trouble on the opening day of 2017's first in-season test at the Bahrain International Circuit, severely restricting mileage.
Honda, having endured a run of MGU-H problems over the Bahrain Grand Prix weekend, set its sights on improving reliability and performance at the two-day test.
However, test and development driver Oliver Turvey completed only two laps before being sidelined when a water leak was detected from the ERS, with investigations ongoing.
In the interest of time, Honda elected to change the power unit inside the MCL32, with a view to sending Formula E racer Turvey back out on track at some point in the afternoon.
Stoffel Vandoorne failed to make the start on Sunday evening due to a water pressure issue, while Fernando Alonso retired three laps from the finish amid power loss.
