Did Hornish cheat his way to all of his IRL wins?
Both of Panther Racing's cars — driven by Tomas Scheckter and Townsend Bell — were sent to the rear of today's 21-car field for using unapproved rear wings in qualifying. IRL officials would not discuss specifics of the violations or the fine that accompanied them. Panther officials argued that the wings twice passed inspection prior to qualifying and weren't altered. But there were rival team officials happy to see the two-time league champion caught. They think Panther has been skirting the rules for years. "When you get caught cheating, it throws everything up in the air for question," Eddie Cheever Jr. said.
