Forsythe eyes Valiante – Maybe
UPDATE We spoke with Forsythe and learned that the meeting this morning was a get together for all the Canadian drivers, the team and Ford. It was not to talk about a ride next year. "We have to find sponsorship," said Forsythe. "Michael is a good kid and hopefully something will come together for him." So far he's turning heads. 11/06/04 Rumor has it that Forsythe Racing is talking to Canadian Michael Valiante about a possible ride for 2005. Valiante was spotted in secret talks Saturday morning in Mexico City over breakfast by AutoRacing1.com with team owner Gerald Forsythe, Neil Micklewright, Peter Davies (all from Forsythe Racing) as well as Champ Car President Dick Eidswick and a representative from Ford. It is quite possible we will see Valiante replace fellow Canadian Patrick Carpentier who may be IRL bound, though he and Paul Tracy were both at this morning's meeting. Recall our previous rumor that Forsythe said he would run up to 4 cars if the sponsorship was found. As we have told our readers, Valiante is a possible star in the making and was already faster than his more experienced Walker Racing teammate Mario Haberfeld in Friday provisional qualifying in Mexico City.
