John Deere or Harrah’s to sponsor Gordon

UPDATE #2 Robby Gordon, who is leaving Richard Childress Racing to start his own Nextel Cup team, said this weekend that Harrah's Entertainment will sponsor his car next season. "Harrah's is definitely part of our Cup sponsorship," Gordon said. "I've had a relationship with Harrah's for a long time. I've got really good friends there … and they've been a supporter of ours throughout the years." Las Vegas Sun. BGNRacing.com has been told that the #55 team owned by Robby Gordon will continue to run in the Busch Series in '05 for 24 races with Fruit of the Loom returning as the sponsor. The schedule will consist mostly of companion events and also include the Mexico City race in March. BGNRacing.com 11/06/04 Robby Gordon said he's teaming with car owner Jim Smith next season, setting up a Nextel Cup team. "The only sponsors I can confirm are Harrah's – which just bought Caesars, to become the largest gaming company – and Fruit of the Loom," Gordon said. Gordon plans to run a 25-man team, though Nextel Cup rivals say that's much too small a staff for a major Cup effort. Gordon declined to announce his crew chief or any of the key men he had signed. Winston Salem Journal 11/01/04 Rumor has it that when Robby Gordon starts his Nextel Cup series team next year, John Deere will be his sponsor. Otherwise we are at a loss as to why he has been wearing John Deere hats because his website does not list John Deere as one of his current partners.
