Alexis DeJoria To Sit Out zMax

NHRA Funny Car driver Alexis DeJoria will skip the eighth annual NHRA Four-Wide Nationals this weekend at zMAX Dragway because of an undisclosed family matter.

Chad Head, who hasn’t competed this year and has raced in 83 NHRA Funny Car events during his career, will pilot DeJoria’s Kalitta Motorsport Tequila Patron Toyota Funny Car this weekend instead.

DeJoria entered the weekend ranked 11th in the NHRA Funny Car standings.

This isn’t the first time DeJoria has been forced to take time away from her NHRA Funny Car program. Last year DeJoria was forced to miss multiple races because of injuries, including a concussion that sidelined her from the season-ending Auto Club NHRA Finals last November.
