Rahal-Letterman to announce ’05 lineup
UPDATE This rumor is upgraded to 'fact' today. Rahal Letterman Racing will announce next week that the 22-year-old Danica Patrick will drive a full schedule in the Indy Racing League next season, including the Indianapolis 500. "I'm very excited. I've been working toward this my whole life," she said Tuesday from her home in the Phoenix area. "It kind of makes me speechless. It's like 'Wow. It's happening.'" She would be an additional IRL entry for the team, owned by former racer Bobby Rahal and TV personality David Letterman. The team fielded two cars this year, driven by Vitor Meira and Buddy Rice. Both of those drivers will return next season. 12/02/04 The Rahal Letterman team will announce their 2005 lineup of drivers on Wednesday December 8th in Indianapolis and it's expected they will announce a two or three car team to include Buddy Rice, Vitor Meira and Danica Patrick. Whether Patrick runs a full season or just the Indy 500 as we suspect, remains to be seen. She is rumored to be running a Ferrari GTS for Rahal in ALMS so we are speculating that the announcement could see her run the races up to (as a tune-up) and including the Indy 500. Could we see Kenny Brack take over for her after that? Assuming the ALMS rumor is true, it all seems quite possible.
