Is it Chevy or is it Penske?

Again, the question is — is Chevy that strong because of Penske, or is Penske that strong 'cause of Chevy? Whatever the answer, the result is that Will Power will start from the Pole for tomorrow's 2017 IndyCar Grand Prix of Indianapolis present by PennGrade Motor Oil (whew). Joining him on the front row will be Helio Castroneves, with Josef Newgarden and Scott Dixon splitting the second row. In the third row will be Juan Pablo Montoya and Sebastien Bourdais. The lone Penske car not to make the Fast Six, Simon Pagenaud, will start 7th.

So what might Chevy doing that the others aren't doing? According to Spencer Pigot, the track is the same ole track that they've had for the last couple of years, and not much has changed. His guess was that this circuit doesn't use much downforce, and the Chevy cars were better able to trim out down force at the lower levels. However, Pigot — driving a Chevy — will start 16th. His team mate, JR Hildebrand, will start from 21st position. Other Chevys starting towards the back are the two Foyt cars — Conor Daly in 15th and Carlos Munoz in 18th.

So maybe the magic is more with Team Penske?
