Pigot's car crashed in Turn 2 |
Before the rains came today Spencer Pigot did a 360-degree spin in Turn 2 and made heavy front and right-side contact with the SAFER Barrier. His car made additional light contacts with wall on the backstretch before coming to rest. Pigot climbed from the car without assistance from the Holmatro Safety Team. The car has significant damage to the nosecone, rear wheel guards and right side.
Medical update from Dr. Geoffrey Billows, IMS Medical Director: Spencer Pigot has been checked and released from the IU Health Emergency Medical Center. He is cleared to drive.
SPENCER PIGOT (No. 11 Juncos Racing Chevrolet): “I’m not really sure (what happened). Entered Turn 2. It had not been an issue for us all week. Before I knew it, I was backwards. We’ll have to go back and look and see what happened. I’m fine. The cars are really safe and it wasn’t that bad a hit. I don’t think the actually chassis is damaged, so we’ll go put some new parts on it and get back out tomorrow."
