Saturday morning update from Indy (2nd Update)

UPDATE The first six cars were down in the qualifying line at 10:35 but the officials told everyone to seek cover since the storm, presently dumping rain on the track, was approaching. We are on delay for now. The weather looks like it will hang around Speedway for a long time.

05/20/17 Rain is approaching the Speedway so qualifying may be delayed but it is expected we will get some or all qualifying in today. Pole qualifying is tomorrow. Tomorrow's forecast only calls for a 20% chance of rain

05/20/17 Good morning from Indianapolis. The skies this morning are cloudy and grey. Looks like the rain could start any minute. All the weather apps have various predictions about what time the rain will come. It is so foggy you cannot even see downtown Indy from the Media Center.

Today is the first day of qualifying for the 101st running of the Indy 500. Will Sebastien Bourdais be able to maintain the fastest time? Or will we see a completely unexpected driver take the pole today? Pippa Mann will be the first car to qualify when the track is ready.

Qualifying starts at 11 am. We will have the qualifying lineup posted for you this morning.

8 – 9 a.m. – Indianapolis 500 practice (Two groups/30 minutes each)

9 -9:30 a.m. – Indianapolis 500 practice (all cars)

11 a.m. – 5:50 p.m. – Indianapolis 500 qualifying (single car/cumulative time of four laps; Top nine advance to Sunday’s Pole Shootout), WatchESPN (11 a.m.-3 p.m.), ABC (4-6 p.m.).
