Saturday Morning update from Belle Isle
A beautiful Saturday is expected on Belle Isle |
Another beautiful day on Belle Isle. There is no rain in the forecast for today but tomorrow we could see rain.
Qualifying today and tomorrow will a different format than IndyCar usually follows on road and street courses. The drivers have been assigned to a qualifying group 1 or 2 based on their times in the Friday afternoon practice session. Each group will go out for 12 minutes, with a guaranteed 5 minutes of green time. The fastest driver between both groups will be on pole. Then the groups will line up by their remaining times within their group.
The No. 9 Chip Ganassi Racing crew of Scott Dixon were awarded the Firestone Pit Stop Performance Award with a total pit lane time of 1 minute, 55 seconds during the Grand Prix of Indianapolis on May 13th. The team was awarded $10,000 yesterday after the first practice session.
Watch for more updates during the day. IndyCar qualifying starts at 10:05 am and the Race 1 will start at 3:30 pm.
