After tying Cale Yarborough on the Monster Energy Series all-time wins list and earning his 11th victory at the Monster Mile, Jimmie Johnson spent Monday morning having Basal Cell Carcinoma removed from his shoulder.

Known as BCC, the type of skin cancer is one that begins in the basal cells and is very common, caused by excessive exposure to the sun.

Although it’s not a way the seven-time champion had hoped to celebrate his 83rd career victory, the fact that he caught it early was a victory in itself.
