LeMans 24 Hour 2: #7 Toyota takes the lead in second hour
LMP1
Mike Conway was able to get around his teammate in the #8 (Buemi) to re-take the overall lead. The #1 Porsche with Neel Jani on board is still third.
Following contact on the opening lap, the #4 ENSO has officially retired.
LMP2
The #31 and #13 ORECAs entered by Vaillante Rebellion have been running up front for a good distance. #31 Senna held the lead early in the hour, before handing the car over to Nicolas Prost. Now Prost leads teammate Mathias Beche in the #13 ORECA.
The Jackie Chan DC Racing outfit has been taking turns in third place. Presently it is Thomas Laurent in the #38 chasing the Vaillante Rebellion teammates.
LMGTE Pro
Aston Martin Racing still holds onto the top two spots in LMGTE Pro. Nicki Thiim had a firm hold on the lead in the #95 Aston Martin before handing the car over to Marco Sorensen. He leads Daniel Serra in the #97 Aston Martin.
Alessandro Per Guidi (#51 Ferrari) was knocked out of the third spot first by the #92 Porsche of Kévin Estre, who was then passed by the #66 Ford in the hands of Olivier Pla.
LMGTE Am
Ferrari is atop the LMGTE Am class thanks to Townsend Bell in the #62, but he has now completed his first stint and handed the car over to Bill Sweedler. Two Aston Martins follow; first the #95 with Paul Dala Lana in the driver’s seat, then the #90 with Salih Yoluc aboard.
The LMGTE Am category produced the first official retirement of the race; the #88 Porsche was hit by the #26 ORECA in the Porsche Curves, causing both to hit the guardrail. The #88 (Al Qubaisi) and #26 (Rusinov) were both able to make it back to pit lane, but the damage on the Porsche was too extensive to continue.
