Pirelli announces Austrian GP tire selections
Pirelli will bring its Ultra Soft, Super Soft and Soft compounds to the Spielberg event, the same as in Australia, Russia, Monaco and Canada, and also selected for Belgium and Singapore.
Drivers have, as expected, loaded up on the softest compound, the Ultra Soft.
Force India and McLaren have gone for the most aggressive approach, with their drivers selecting 10 sets of Ultra Softs, alongside just two sets of Super Softs and one set of Softs.
Among the top three teams, Red Bull will take the most sets of Ultra Softs (nine per driver), followed by Mercedes (eight) and Ferrari (seven), with all teams picking at least seven sets.
Interestingly, championship leader Sebastian Vettel, who suffered a tire failure while leading last year's race at the Red Bull Ring, will take more sets of Super Softs than his main rivals.
