Would Pikes Peak lose its race in merger?

This Colorado Springs Gazette article talks about the possible merger of the IRL and Champ Car and the concern that they would lose their race because Champ Car has a race in downtown Denver and that may get the nod over Pikes Peak. However, this is not an issue in AutoRacing1.com's proposal which calls for two divisions and 6 common races between the two divisions. This issue was one of the reasons we recommended two divisions, so that most tracks will retain their event. See proposed schedule in this article. Only the very weakest events would be dropped and since Pikes Peak does not attract a large crowd, it was not on our proposed schedule. With that said, our schedule was only an example of what could be done.
