The FIA Formula E Championship moves Stateside this week as the all-electric race series holds its first ever ePrix in New York. The weekend will take the format of a double-header, with a 43-lap race on Saturday and a 49-lap event on Sunday. Nelson Piquet Jr and Oliver Turvey will be racing for the NextEV NIO Formula-e Team at rounds nine and ten of the 2016/17 season.

Nelson Piquet Jr (Car #3): I'm very excited about this race. I've said before that what Formula E has done to bring races to some truly iconic cities is really impressive. To now add New York to this list is amazing; it's one of the most famous locations in the world. I have no doubts this is going to be one of Formula E's most important moments so far. We've had some encouraging results, particularly in qualifying this year, so if the track suits us a bit more in Brooklyn, my aim is to be fighting for Super Pole on both days and working to convert that into results in the race. We need to come away from New York with a really strong points haul.

Oliver Turvey (Car #88): The New York track looks exciting and I can't wait to get out on track. It seems to have a good mix of corners with hairpins, chicanes and a fast final corner, as well as a number of straights offering overtaking opportunities in the race. The turn two and turn three combination looks like the most challenging section of the track. My aims for New York are to achieve the best possible result for the team. I will be aiming to reach superpole and to qualify on pole position, and in the race I will be aiming to stand on the top step of the podium.

Gerry Hughes, Team Principal: Racing at a new venue is always a mixture of anticipation and excitement; especially one in a place as high profile as the Big Apple. However, it's the same for all of the teams, and pre-event preparation for the engineers and drivers is more important than ever. Qualifying is where our strengths currently lie and, while that is a positive, we need to start converting these excellent grid positions into tangible points finishes in the races. Given the more conventional Formula E circuit and specific layout of the NYC track, which should suit our car more, we will be aiming to secure strong race results for the NextEV NIO Formula-e Team.
