Gutierrez is cleared to drive today

UPDATE Esteban Gutierrez has been cleared to drive today's 85-lap race this afternoon by IndyCar's Medical Director, Dr. Michael Olinger. The crew of his number 18 UNIFIN sponsored car worked until 11:30 pm last night to get the car back together and the car was in tech at 9 am this morning.

7/15/17 Esteban Gutierrez crashed hard in Turn 11 in qualifying for the Honda Indy Toronto Saturday. He was able to get out of the car under his own power, but afterwards experienced some concussion like symptoms. IndyCar put out the following statement:

“Following an incident during qualifications today for the Honda Indy Toronto, Dale Coyne Racing driver Esteban Gutierrez was evaluated by INDYCAR Medical Director Dr. Michael Olinger after experiencing concussion-like symptoms. Gutierrez was treated and released but has not been cleared to drive, pending further evaluation Sunday morning."
