Albers and Jordan

Dutch rookie Christijan Albers has emerged near the top of Midland owned Jordan's driver shortlist for next year. The Minardi man, a lauded ex-racer in Germany's tin-top DTM category, is the 'fastest Dutchman in formula one,' according to Jordan principal Colin Kolles.

Earlier, Albers' teammate Robert Doornbos – former 2005 'Friday' driver at Jordan – was believed to have a Midland offer in his pocket.

But Kolles, who last week showed Christijan around the Silverstone factory and reportedly is also keen on BAR tester Anthony Davidson, told f1racing.net: ''If we sign up Albers there is only one seat available for a Dutchman.

''I read a lot of negative things about our team and I wanted to show him all the positive things,'' he explained of the factory tour. Meanwhile, Jordan's sporting relations manager – ex-F1 racer Johnny Herbert – agrees that Albers, who was also an F3 champion, is the 'best Dutchman that we can sign up.'
