Bourdais still eyes a shot at F1

Should Sebastien Bourdais win his second title this year, it is thought that Formula One's teams will no longer be able to ignore his credentials and he will head back to Europe. While he looked to be on his way to F1 following his 2002 F3000 championship when an Arrows test resulted in a contract offer, the team went bankrupt before the end of the year and the deal was cancelled.

His second opportunity came with the Renault team late in the same year, but he lost the test drive role to fellow Frenchman Franck Montagny. It is thought that the team offered Bourdais a contract but he did not like the terms. "You don't decide to go to F1: Opportunities arise or they don't, and so far nothing interesting has come my way," he said. "I'm still considering it, but it's a matter of opportunity and I'm waiting for a good one." Globe and Mail
