Spa braced for heavy rain on race weekend
Rain will hit Spa this weekend |
Rain is expected over the course of the Belgian Grand Prix weekend with heavy rain showers on the radar for Sunday's race.
It is set to be overcast for the first two practice sessions on Friday, with the risk of rain increasing for FP3 on Saturday before brightening up in the afternoon for qualifying.
Sunday's race, though, is a different story, with heavy rain set to roll in over the course of the afternoon. Given the vast nature of the Spa circuit, it would come as no surprise to see it rain in one part of the track and be bone dry elsewhere.
A number of changes have been made to the Spa circuit to accommodate the new, faster cars.
The tyre walls have been significantly bolstered at Turns 4, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15, with tube inserts providing extra protection all around the circuit.
Turns 8 and 9 also have a new wall installed instead of the old guardrail and the curb has been extended at Turn 15 with a new drain in place.
