IndyCar narrowly avoided another fatality at Gateway Saturday night when Will Power spun on the first race restart in front of the entire field. Ed Carpenter had nowhere to go, spun backward and flew on top of Power.

It was only by a miracle that Carpenter's car did not take off Power's head resulting in another IndyCar fatality.

Power must have nine lives because he was involved in the fatal Dan Wheldon accident in Las Vegas and was flying through the air so high his car looked like it was launched from an aircraft carrier.

Nothing short of a Halo or full canopy would save a driver in such a situation. An aero screen will not be strong enough to protect a driver from a fence post (which kills drivers in post oval track accidents) or the impact from a heavy race car.
