Ocon confirmed at Force India for 2018
Esteban Ocon |
Esteban Ocon and Sergio Perez will both be back with Force Racing in 2018 (Force India to be renamed Force Racing).
The Frenchman confirmed that he will also compete as a Mercedes Junior for the Silverstone team in 2018.
The team also confirmed that Sergio Perez’s contract extension means that the Mexican will stay at Force India for another year. Nevertheless, the 21-year-old Frenchman today, “Now it is official, and I can say that I am very happy to continue with Force India and Mercedes 2018"
In Singapore he had to settle for tenth place. “At least we had the difficult weekend behind us," admits the Force India driver.
“I got a very good start, but I had problems on both the rain and the intermediate compounds. It was quite different in Monza, where I felt much more comfortable in the rain. But something has not worked in Singapore and I honestly do not know why. I therefore fell behind a few slower cars. "
“After the track was dry again, I had a good pace again. But I just could not overtake – that’s just very difficult on this track, "
“Ultimately, it’s good to have saved a point, but I want more! We need to find out what’s wrong and move back in Malaysia. "
This move is obviously a good one for entertainment value as both Ocon and Perez have come to blows on more than one occasion this season.
Our 2018 F1 Silly Season page has been updated accordingly.
