Dalziel Tops Friday at Monterey
The Scot reeled off a 1:18.026 in his No. 2 Nissan Onroak DPi to go quickest near the end of the 60-minute session, bumping the Practice 1 pace-setting No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R of Ricky Taylor to second.
ESM’s No. 22 Nissan of Pipo Derani was third quickest, a further three-tenths back, with the No. 5 Action Express Racing Cadillac and No. 90 Visit Florida Racing Ligier JS P217 Gibson completing the top-five overall.
Toni Vilander was quickest in GT Le Mans for Risi Competizione and Ferrari, thanks to a 1:22.635 lap time by the Finn in the No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GTE.
Three different manufacturers were in the top-three in class, with the No. 25 BMW M6 GTLM of Alexander Sims second, ahead of Oliver Gavin’s No. 4 Corvette C7.R in third.
A late charge by Ozz Negri, meanwhile, derailed a Porsche 1-2 in GT Daytona.
The Brazilian’s 1:25.253 lap time put the No. 86 Michael Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3 on top in the opening day of track activities.
Negri’s lap was 0.101 seconds quicker than the No. 28 Alegra Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R of Daniel Morad, which paced the opening practice in the hands of co-driver Patrick Long.
A final 60-minute practice session is on tap at 8 a.m. ET on Saturday, followed by qualifying later in the morning.
