Stewart to start new Silver Crown team

Rumor has it that Tony Stewart, having sided with the National Sprintcar League that folded before it started, is going to start a USAC Silver Crown team and run the new superspeedway car. Rumor is that the France family is concerned not enough teams will buy the superspeedway car to run on their superspeedway tracks and that the concept will fold. The France family wants to monopolize the short track oval market so they want the superspeedway concept to succeed. It will also keep the WoO in check as the teams who left to go to the NSL with Stewart may also run the superspeedway cars.

We hear Stewart has bought the old Dick Simon shop in Indy for this purpose. Maybe he will pull an AGR and run five cars to help fill the field.
