Team Australia gearing up for big year
Our sources tell us that a lot of work is being done at the Walker Racing/Team Australia shop getting it ready for a big season of racing. Because all the sponsorship money is not in place yet, there has been no testing so far and they are not working directly on the Champ Cars. However, their engineering staff is working very hard on a well defined plan and the workforce has and is spending the time working on shop changes (to include Atlantic, BMW and Champ Car, 8 cars and 4 trucks plus equipment) and building/updating equipment.
They have hired some Atlantic employees, but one of the Atlantic drivers they were talking to has joined the Forsythe superteam instead. The plan is for a 2-car Champ Car program, and if Craig Gore (pictured right talking to Australian driver Will Power)can find the sponsorship, a 3rd Champ Car will be added.
In related news, we hear that Team Australia driver Alex Tagliani and his wife Bronte have bought a new house and are in the process of moving. It is expected that he will be back with the team in 2006.
