Porsche to P1?

Sources close to Porsche’s RS Spyder ALMS P2 program run by Penske hinted that a step up to the top class might be in the cards for 2007. Porsche’s official story is that it is dedicated to a customer-friendly P2 campaign, but both Wolfgang Dürheimer, Porsche’s executive vp of research and development, and Roger Penske admit that once the car is fast, reliable and successful, it will be sold to customers and they will evaluate future options. They have not ruled out a move to P1. “I want to compete at the highest level, obviously," Penske said. A decision might be made by this season’s halfway point. AutoWeek
