Richard Childress Racing announced they have signed driver Matt Tifft to a multi-year deal to drive their no. 2 Chevrolet Camaro in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for the 2018 season.

Tifft, a former Toyota development driver, has made 70 starts in his NASCAR career, including the Xfinity, Camping World Truck and K&N Pro Series. He scored two career-high third-place finishes driving for Joe Gibbs Racing in the Xfinity Series this season – both coming at road courses.

Tifft began his career driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2015 before moving up to the Xfinity Series to run a partial schedule for JGR the following year.

In June of 2016, Tifft underwent successful surgery to remove a benign tumor from his brain, sitting out of racing for three months. After returning to the track in September, Tifft was signed for a full-time Xfinity Series ride with JGR in 2016.

"I am very appreciative and grateful for the opportunity to race for a championship and grow as a driver under one the most successful and historic teams in NASCAR," said Tifft. "RCR has a long history of developing partnerships through its XFINITY Series program. I am looking forward to being a part of the family and applying what I have learned in my first full-time XFINITY Series season while continuing to grow with the goal of competing in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series in the future."
"Matt is a talented race car driver and an even better young man," said Richard Childress, Chairman and CEO of RCR. "I've watched him race for the past few years and we were impressed by his ability. We look forward to welcoming Matt to our XFINITY Series program and having him compete for a championship with RCR."
