Horse race firm could run Brit GP
(GMMf1NET) A horse racing company, with no experience in motor sport, may take over the running of the British GP at Silverstone.
A 25-year lease for Northern Racing is proposed by the circuit's owner, the British Racing Drivers' Club, along with plans with St Modwen Properties to totally revamp Silverstone and safeguard the future of the historic formula one race.
''We're not … equipped with the financial and other resources to undertake a development of the size and complexity required,'' wrote BRDC chairman Stuart Rolt in a letter to club members.
Members will get to vote on the plan later this month, but some are reportedly already opposing what they believe could jeopardize the track's future.
