We are hearing that the Champ Car team owners visit to the Panoz factory near Atlanta this week went over very well. The new car is already making 5200 pounds of downforce in the wind tunnel and 5500 pounds of total downforce, most of it from the underbody, is the goal. We hear the team owners can all afford the new car because the car is much less expensive to maintain than the current Lola. Teams will save $500K per year in crash damage parts and $50K per year with the new carbon brakes…..among other savings. That coupled with the attractive financing make the new car very attractive.
