Schu pens new Ferrari deal – report
Asked what he had to say about the speculation in the Sepang paddock, the frustrated German told reporters: ''I don't believe I have to say anything.
''If someone wants to write something, I can't stop them, but for me nothing has changed. There's nothing more to say.
''I have nothing new to report.''
03/14/06 (GMMf1NET) According to reports in the German press, Ferrari's Michael Schumacher may have now signed a new two-year deal to stick around in F1 until the end of 2008.
After missing the Bahrain win by a paltry 1.2 seconds, the 37-year-old is almost certain to line up at the scarlet team next year alongside McLaren defector Kimi Raikkonen, the reports said.
Schumacher's manager, Willi Weber, would not confirm the rumor when pressed by 'Bild' newspaper.
''We will not be making any statements on this issue before the summer,'' he said. ''But it is clear — positive results will not impact negatively on Michael's important decision.''
Bild also quoted a 'McLaren insider' as reporting that Kimi Raikkonen has already decided to leave the team.
01/23/06 (GMMf1NET) After stirring up speculation that he might switch teams for 2007, Michael Schumacher has given the strongest indication yet that he does not intend to retire.
The 37-year-old German is under contract to Ferrari only until the end of this year, revealing that he will let the wider world know his future later in 2006.
Schumacher told the news magazine 'Focus': ''Unlike football players, I don't believe that racing drivers need to stop at the end of their thirties.''
Adding to the feeling that his career is far from nearing an end, Michael was speaking at the launch of a multi-million dollar, 3-year personal sponsorship with spring water brand 'Rosbacher'.
But Schumacher repeated his earlier warning that a new driving contract will not necessarily be penned with Maranello based Ferrari, after failing to win a single race (Indy aside) last season.
''You always have to leave a door open,'' he said, ''because this is such a fast moving sport.''
Michael, however, repeated that there is a 99 per cent probability that his car beyond '06 will be red.
He insisted: ''I have many friends at Ferrari, so to drive for them would be the most logical (decision).
''The last tests showed that we are making progress. Everything points to the fact that we will be competitive again.''
