Johnny Bohmer Achieves New, Unbelievable Milestone In Street-Driven Car

West Palm Beach, Florida, resident and current Guinness World Record holder, Johnny Bohmer, and his 2006 Ford GT have now boldly gone where no street-legal car has gone before. Last Friday, October 20, Bohmer and his street-legal car – "THE BADDGT" – hit 292.9 MPH while doing straight-line aerodynamic testing at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds, Space Florida's Space Port, located at the Kennedy Space Center.

Bohmer piloted THE BADDGT as the first street-legal car to break 250 MPH and 275 MPH milestones. Then achieving a Guinness World Record on October 16, 2012, of 283.232 MPH in the standing mile, which he holds to this day.

"Taking a street-driven car to this unimaginable speed requires a special team of individuals that I have worked with for years while doing substantial engineering and testing," says Bohmer.

This amazing speed of 292.9 MPH was recorded by numerous cameras and verified by the sanctioning body, The International Mile Racing Association.

While THE BADDGT has been modified, this car is registered, tagged and insured in accordance with State of Florida vehicle laws. Moreover, the record-holding bullet features a high-end audio system and ice-cold air conditioning, both essential for sunshine state motoring

In addition to hitting 292.9 MPH, Bohmer continues to pursue speed records in the internal combustion and electric vehicle segments alike. On February 17, 2017, Bohmer set a new Guinness World Record for a street-legal, all-electric car of 190.480 MPH and then topped the vehicle out at a seemingly impossible 209 MPH. His mount for this new record was a Genovation Cars GXE, a highly modified Corvette, reimagined by Genovation engineers as a state-of-the-art, all-electric supercar.

Bohmer has set his sights on the next logical milestone of being the first street-legal car to smash the 300 MPH barrier. He plans on achieving this during a future straight-line aerodynamic testing session in late 2017, so stay tuned.
