San Jose now Champ Car’s best street circuit?
One of the biggest improvements that was recently completed to the San Jose street circuit was the resurfacing of the city streets, so they are now flush with the light rail tracks. The open wheel Champ Cars were not equipped to deal with uneven pavement, so the bumpy ride drivers received last year left them feeling more than a little sore.
"I think the San Jose Grand Prix staff has done a good job of addressing the concerns the drivers expressed about the track last year," Bourdais said Friday at a press conference in San Jose. "They have made a lot of significant improvements to the circuit and I believe there will be more passing here in San Jose than on any other street course in the Champ Car World Series."
Champ Car will take over the streets of San Jose on July 28-30. The temporary street course takes drivers on a 1.5-mile, seven-turn tour of the city. That weekend will also see the unveiling of the new Panoz Champ Car.
