Carlos Slim to help Mexican driver in F1

At least once per week Mexican president Vicente Fox likes to visit with the different people that are involved in Mexican sports to talk about the present and the future of Mexican athletes and the way the presidency can help. Yesterday it was auto racing's turn and Jose "Jo" Ramirez, the only Mexican to have been team coordinator in F1 (he was McLaren's team coordinator from 1984 until 2001), was invited to talk about the future of Mexican drivers.

Ramirez decided to go to the presidential residence with Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim, the owner of TELMEX (among other companies). Ramirez told the president and the different reporters present that even though he is retired from F1 he is working with Carlos Slim (the reason Ramirez decided to take Slim with him) to get a Mexican into F1, specifically Salvador Duran and Sergio Perez. Duran is considered to be Mexico's next great superstar. J. J. Arrambide Gonzalez reporting from Mexico
