Midland and Cosworth
(GMM) The Midland-owned 'MF1' team is almost certain to be powered by Cosworth V8 engines in 2007.
It is understood that the terms of an agreement, with Alex Shnaider's squad set to lose its Toyota power plants to Williams, were discussed at a meeting in Montreal involving Colin Kolles, MF1's manager of business affairs Ian Phillips, and Bernard Ferguson, who is commercial director for Cosworth, and Kevin Kalkhoven who flew into Montreal Thursday.
Ferguson this month admitted that the independent engine maker was likely to lose Williams as a partner at the end of 2006. With V10-powered Toro Rosso looking to inherit Red Bull's Ferrari deal, Cosworth looked set to drop out of the market altogether.
