Might NASCAR expand the current 43-car fields to keep high-dollar sponsors happy? Robin Pemberton, NASCAR's vice president for competition, said no: "Nobody's even brought it up. And we're already maxed out on pit road with 43 pits."

That is even more trouble for Juan Pablo Montoya, a Formula 1 racer moving to NASCAR. Montoya will have the points-exemption earned by the current Casey Mears-Chip Ganassi team for only next year's first five races, then Montoya will have to make the fields on his own. Winston Salem Journal
