Patrick to replace Herta at AGR
07/23/06 If Danica Patrick lands at Andretti Green Racing next season, as most in the Indy Racing League paddock now believe, fellow driver Bryan Herta will have opened the door for her.
Herta has told AGR officials he'd prefer to drive their sports car in the American LeMans Series next season. He said there are ways he could remain in the No. 7 Dallara/Honda, but it's likely his 13-year Indy-car career will be over at season's end.
"At least that's my preference," Herta said Saturday at the Milwaukee Mile.
Herta has won four Indy-style races in his career — two in CART, two in the IRL.
Patrick hasn't been confirmed at AGR, but speculation continues to mount an agreement was reached earlier in the week. AGR and Rahal officials declined comment, and Patrick held firm in her silence.
"I just don't have anything new to say, and I like to say new things (to reporters)," she said. "Unfortunately, my lips are sealed." Indy Star
[Editor's Note: It's pretty much a foregone conclusion Danica Patrick will drive for Andretti Green Racing in 2007. If it turns out that she is faster than rising star Marco Andretti in the same car/team, Marco's F1 aspirations will be finished. F1 teams would never give him a 2nd look. And vice versa, if Danica still cannot win races for Andretti Green Racing, it will pretty much confirm her reputation as all show and no go.]
