Schu’s BMW billion
British reports sensationally claimed that the coup could ultimately see a ten-figure sum enter the current Ferrari driver's bank account, but Schumacher was quoted on Thursday as scoffing at the gossip.
''I know nothing about it,'' Schumacher said, according to 'sid', while the German reaffirmed his commitment to announce his future plans at Monza.
The German said of the BMW tale: ''It's just a rumor.''
BMW motor sport director Dr Mario Theissen, meanwhile, said the report has 'no basis'.
07/26/06 (GMM) Michael Schumacher appears on the verge of a new two-year Ferrari deal, but it is rumored that BMW tried to lure the seven time world champion on the promise of a record-breaking contract.
'F1 Racing' magazine in Britain reports this month that BMW-Sauber chiefs held recent talks with Schumacher's manager, Willi Weber, about an 80m EUR per-year offer.
With merchandising income thrown in, it is suggested that the arrangement could have resulted in a mind-boggling ten figure sum finding its way into the 37-year-old's bank account.
