IRL may be forced to move Michigan date

With the announcement of the schedule change for the 2007 Brickyard (which moves it a week earlier), Michigan International speedway is deep in discussions with the IRL and ABC – who will broadcast both IRL and NASCAR races next year — to move the 2007 MIS IRL event to a week earlier. Traditionally, the Indy car race at MIS (both CART and IRL) has been the last weekend of July, and this would place the event on July 22 of 2007.

The move will only be official when the 2007 IRL schedules are released in 2007. Tim Wohlford reporting from Michigan
