Liberty Media chairman John Malone owns more private land than anyone in the United States.
The de facto owner of Formula 1 has 2.2 million acres across the country, spread across several states from coast to coast, according to a list compiled by Forbes. Liberty Media purchased the Formula One Group for $4.4 billion in late 2016.
Malone owns Silver Spur Ranches, a ranching and beef company, that includes the Silver Spur Ranch in Wyoming and the TO Ranch in New Mexico. The 76-year-old also owns two ranches in Colorado. He surpassed fellow media titan Ted Turner for the title of largest private land owner in the country back in 2011. Turner checks in at 2 million acres.
By the way, the state of Rhode Island is approximately 777,000 acres — nearly one-third the land owned by Malone.
Malone also holds international real estate in Ireland. AutoWeek
