Chrysler to post $1.5 billion loss

Slow sales of Chrysler Group's most profitable vehicles prompted owner DaimlerChrysler AG to warn Friday of much larger losses this year and further cuts in North American vehicle production.

Chrysler now expects to lose $1.5 billion in the three months ending Sept. 30. That's more than twice the $600 million the automaker forecast in July. Additionally, the North American division no longer expects to return to profitability by the end of the year but instead anticipates a $1.2-billion yearend loss.

With Ford, GM and Chrysler all forecasting billions of dollars in losses, how can they justify their NASCAR programs? Doesn't appear that NASCAR is helping their car sales one iota given their huge losses.
