IRL in Vegas?

UPDATE #2 AutoRacing1.com has confirmed with Champ Car officials that there is no truth to the rumors of three possible doubleheaders with the IRL in 2007. That means that ALMS will probably be with Champ Car in Long Beach, after Champ Car didn't invite Grand-Am back.

09/15/06 Hearing that three doubleheader Champ Car/IRL weekends are still possible for 2007 – Las Vegas, Long Beach and Sonoma (not sure about Sonoma). The coordination of schedules could be the reason for the holdup by both Champ Car and the IRL in releasing their 2007 schedules. If Sonoma were true (August), we wonder if Champ Car will return to Road America in 2007.

09/13/06 There were rumors going around the IRL paddock last weekend at Chicagoland that the IRL could be, in a surprise move, racing on the streets of Las Vegas next year. We doubt it is a separate deal unless Roger Penske arranged a parking lot race with his friend Steve Wynn (Wynn Penske Ferrari Maserati Dealership in Wynn Las Vegas). Could it be a doubleheader with Champ Car?…….Recall the previous rumors of possibly three joint Champ Car/IRL races in 2007.
