Paris at Dawn: Rendezvous – C’etait un Rendez-vous – 1976
French movie director Claude Lelouch adapted a movie camera to a Ferrari 275 GTB and asked a friend, a Formula 1 driver, to drive through the heart of Paris at the greatest speed possible. It was filmed just before dawn. The film lasted only 10 minutes. The itinerary was from Porte Dauphine through the Louvre and on to the Sacré Coeur basilica.
Lelouch did not have the Prefecture's authorization for this exploit. If he had police officers would have ensured maximum security by blocking off the roads to traffic. In this case they did not. The driver made the trip in 9 minutes, reaching speeds of 260 kph (161 mph).
The film shows the driver running red lights and stop signs, almost running down pedestrians, terrifying pigeons, and driving up one way streets in the wrong direction. Claude Lelouch never divulged the name of the driver.
Make sure you're sitting down, turn up the volume and buckle your seat belts.
