Bourdais covering his bases

UPDATE This rumor is downgraded to 'false' today. According to the team Bourdais will drive for Newman/Haas Racing in 2007.

09/29/06 According to AutoRacing1.com sources, Champ Car powerhouse team Newman/Haas Racing is expected to pick up their option on Sebastien Bourdais if he does not get an F1 offer for 2007. Bourdais' contract is up after this year. However, rumor has it that Bourdais has signed a letter of intent with Andretti Green Racing to drive one of their four IRL cars should Newman/Haas not pick up that option. This would seem like a smart thing to do on Bourdais' part (cover his bases) but he has said in the past he viewed IRL cars as too dangerous, so one must take this rumor with a grain of salt for the time being.
