Carroll eyes Champ Car
The Ulsterman had a test with RuSPORT as they evaluated potential replacements for the injured Cristiano da Matta, and attended the last race at Road America to talk to other teams.
But despite not getting a drive for this weekend's race at Surfers Paradise, Carroll will head to Australia to continue talks with teams.
"We're going to talk to everyone again because we've had some good interest from people over there," Carroll told autosport.com.
"The test with RuSPORT helped me, because people know what lap times I was doing and they were impressed.
"Champ Car is a good series, and it's getting stronger with the new car coming in, so it's a good career path to follow." More at Autosport.com
09/24/06 No fewer than four current GP2 drivers are here at Road America this weekend looking to break into Champ Car. They all view GP2 as a dead end because it is so hard to break into F1. Adam Carroll, who we showed on Friday, is of course one of them.
09/22/06 Seen at Road America Friday was GP2 driver Adam Carroll talking to CTE Racing-HVM team boss Keith Wiggins. Carroll is rumored to be eyeing a possible move to Champ Car in 2007. To the right he is pictured with his managers. We hear they think F1 is too far out of reach and they like what they saw at Road America Friday.
